Giovani Segura To Pursue a Rematch With Brian Viloria
Mexico’s Giovani Segura (28-2-1, 24KOs) plans to pursue a rematch against WBO flyweight champion Brian Viloria (30-3), who stopped Segura in eight rounds last month in the Philippines. After the fight, Segura was hospitalized for a few days due to severe facial swelling, but the boxer is already back in training and says he is fully recovered and ready to fight.
He traveled to Tijuana on Saturday to support his brother, welterweight Luis Segura, who fought on Jackie Nava’s undercard at Auditorio Municipal. Segura’s brother is now 1-1 after being stoped in the second round by the experienced journeyman Miguel Martinez (41-38, 31KOs).
“I had a bad night against Viloria, but I’m preparing for a rematch. I will continue my career and I already started to train in Los Angeles,” Segura said.
